Sierra Nevada Asheville

Sierra Nevada Asheville is actually in Mills River, 18 miles south of Asheville. It was opened in 2014 and cost over $110 million to construct. Sierra Nevada’s original production facility is in Chico, California. The Mills River location is their 2nd production facility.

Brewery Tours

Sierra Nevada offers several different tours and tastings. You can do a “self tour” of the facility at no charge. There’s also a free 45 minute guided tour. There are 5 other tours that range in price from $12 per person to the 3 hour Beer Geek Tour for $45 per person. Here’s a link to make your reservation. Sierra Nevada also has a very nice gift shop.

The Taproom

The Tap Room offers 23 different beers and is also serves up excellent food. The restaurant focuses on small plate, sharable, farm-to-table dishes sourced from local suppliers. Here’s a link to their menu. Everything is good but make sure you order some pretzels and pimento beer cheese as an apetizer. Dining is available indoors or outdoors on their beautiful patio. We should have included Sierra Nevada on our list of Favorite Restaurants.

The Back Porch

Outside Sierra Nevada on their beautiful back porch, there’s dining, an outdoor bar and weekly live music. There’s several fire pits with lots of seating and views of the outdoor amphitheater. There’s also a bocce ball court, a corn hole game, an herb garden and and walking paths all throughout. It’s a beautiful setting. It’s our favorite brewery to visit and have a bite to eat. Our second favorite brewery is New Belgium Brewery.
