ASHEVILLE MOUNTAIN HOUSE
The Mountain House sits at an elevation of about 2,500 feet and is mostly surrounded by trees. It’s located on a private dirt road shared by about 20 other homes built on the banks of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The private road leading to the Mountain House is a gradual incline. As you approach the driveway to the Mountain House, you can look up to see the house at the top of the driveway. It’s an uphill driveway. The Mountain House is located only 1.5 miles outside the Asheville City limits making trips for groceries, gas or restaurants very convenient. We’re within 10 to 15 minutes of Downtown Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore and much more. See our Travel Guide.
The living room, dining room, master bedroom and the lower level bedrooms all are facing east. If you’re an early riser, the sunrises are spectacular. During the wintertime there are long range views. During the fall, the colors are stunning! There’s view from the front porch, the deck and the lower level patio outside bedrooms #3 and #4.
Open Living Area
The main living area has an open floor plan and is set up perfectly for groups of 10 or less. Friends and family can talk to each other whether they’re sitting in the living room, dining room, breakfast nook, pub table or kitchen. There’s seating for 3 at the kitchen pub table, 3 at the breakfast nook table, 10 at the dining room table and seating for 6 in the living room. There’s a view out the living room or dining room windows from pretty much everywhere in the main living area. The furniture was purchased locally at the Hickory Furniture Mart. It’s high end quality furniture that’s casual and cozy.
The deck is located off the dining room and has seating for four. There’s room for a couple additional lawn chairs as well. There’s a small gas BBQ Grill and it has long range wintertime views. In the summer, the deck is shaded and is a great place to sit, relax and read a book.
There’s a large kitchen ideal for cooking and entertaining. The pub table was purchased from the Antique Tobacco Barn in Asheville and is originally from the Grove Park Inn. There’s great antique shopping in Asheville, by the way. In addition, we have a breakfast nook area and a counter height dining table that seats up to 3 people. The kitchen is large enough and well stocked enough to prepare large meals for family gatherings. A gas fireplace separates the kitchen/dining area from the living room.
A Kitchen for Cooks
If you like to cook like we do, you’ll love the large open kitchen. There’s all the cooking utensils you’ll need to prepare meals for larger groups. The refrigerator is large and there’s lots of countertop space.
The dining room has a large dining table that accommodates 10 people comfortably. It has views and opens to the outdoor deck. Some of the art on the walls of the dining room came from the Grove Park Inn. There is an additional leaf that can be added to the current dining room table setup
The Master Bedroom has a solid cherry king sized sleigh bed. It’s positioned to watch the sunrise. There’s a desk, a comfortable living room chair and a 50 inch TV. The Master Bathroom has double sinks, granite countertops, a jacuzzi tub, a full shower and a very large walk in closet. Each of the 3 bathrooms have heat fans over the showers. When this picture was taken, the cherry night stands and the sitting chair had not arrived yet. Check back soon as all the pictures will be updated.
The Bedroom Suite is located on the main floor and has a queen bed and a sofa/sleeper. The queen bed area can be closed off from the sitting area with the French Style pocket doors separating the two rooms. The sofa/sleeper is Queen size in width but shorter than a normal queen bed. It is recommended for children but not for adults. There’s a 50 inch TV in the suite side of the bedroom.
Bedroom #3 has a King Bed and walks out to a covered patio. It also has a 43 inch TV, chair and side table. It has lots of closet space and has French style sliding pocket Doors.
Bedroom #4 is located on the lower level. It has a king bed and a sliding glass door that leads out to the patio shared with Bedroom #3. There’s seating for two plus a desk. The bathroom is Jack & Jill style and shared with Bedroom #3. Both Bedroom #3 and #4 have their own sink and mirror with private entrances into the toilet and shower area. The patio faces east and looks out to the mountains.
